Grooming and monthly maintenance of miniature yorkshire terrier - The paw pads

I cut the claws of my YORKIE usually about every 3 weeks.

It is very important not to neglect the claw trimming of your dog.

A dog, whose claws are too long may have trouble walking and the risk of snagging and breaking, which is extremely painful.

Untrimmed claws can also continue to grow in an arc and eventually incarnate and cause an abscess.
LCUT OF THE CLAWS

dewclaw (Claw located above the front legs )
The dewclaw are usually cut from Yorkshire a few days after birth at the same time as the tail is cut, so you never have to worry about that.
Claws
Although he loves to go out, the yorkie is rather considered a dog house.
He did not often have the opportunity to use his claws naturally.

( It's not really walking on the carpet or on our bed that will use his claws! )

To cut your Yorkie's nails, use a nail clipper designed for this purpose. It is worthwhile to buy a good because you'll use quite often.

We must get the young puppy use to have is legs manipulated . If the puppy moves a lot, to be sure not to hurt him, ask someone to hold his body and head while you cut gthe claws.

SMALL TIP: Wrap a towel around the body of the puppy so that it can not move. Highlight only one leg at a time to cut his claws.

BUT WHERE TO CUT THE CLAWS?

Inside the claw there is a "small VEIN". You must cut the nail a few millimeters above this small vein. If you cut the small vein your little doggie will feel pain and bleed .... a lot!

If your dog have white claws, it is very easy to see the vein, but in Yorkshire terrier it is somewhat difficult because their claws are black and it is virtually impossible to see where the vein ends.

Several veterinary and grooming salon offers a cutting service for dog's claws for a few dollars.

I even have a salon near my place that offers a package for the year. We pay a fixed price and we just go cut our dog's claws as often as we want in the year!
